KANDA/ ONION THECHA
Thecha is a Maharashtrian spicy side dish served with meals. It is routinely paired with bhakri ( Indian flat bread made using millet flour or rice flour) It is a peppery flavourful condiment. There are variety of thechas being relished in Maharashtra and some regions of North Karnataka.

Today let's try one of those simple and easy thecha recipe.
Ingredients:
1) Green chillies - 100 grams
2) Garlic cloves - 10 - 12
3) Peanuts - 50 grams
4) Oil - 1 tsp
5) Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
6) Chopped onion - 1 (big size)
7) Salt - As per taste
8) Fresh coriander - For garnishing
(optional)
Method :
1) Roast green chillies on low flame for 3-4 minutes, add garlic cloves and fry again for 2-3 minutes.. and take them in a bowl.
2) On the same tawa roast the peanuts on low flame.
3) Crush the garlic and chillies in mortar till coarse. You can even use a mixer , but take care that we want a coarse mixture and not powder.
5) Similarly crush peanuts coarsely
6) Add oil to a pan fry cumin seeds for 2-3 minutes.
7) Add chopped onion to it and fry till pinkish in colour.
8) Add crushed garlic and chilies to the frying onion mix and fry for 3- 4 minutes, add crushed peanuts and fry for a minute or so, add salt give a stir and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Note: If I use the mixer to crush the peanuts & other stuff take care you do it on a pulse mode just once .
