Cheppo Payasam/ kheer (Unsweetned pudding/Porridge)
Cheppo payasam or kheer is a traditional recipe made from only two ingredients i.e rice and coconut milk, an addition of turmeric leaf is made to it while cooking to enhance its taste and release a pleasant aroma. It is an unsweet rice pudding prepared on the festivals like Gouri Pooja which falls on the previous day of Ganesh Chaturti or sometimes on the same day. This is Lord Shivas favourite dish and so was often prepared by Goddess Parvati and that's the significance of preparing it during Hartalika Gouri Pooja.
